Richard Taylor bought his land in old Rappahannock County, Virginia on May 1, 1671. I have no proof that this Richard Taylor was the son of Richard Taylor, the Ancient Planter, who arrived in Jamestown, Virginia on the "Mary Margaret" in 1608, but the indications are that he was. Septimus TAYLOR Jr was born on 9 Mar 1790 in Hampshire County, Virginia. He moved about 1810 to Jackson County, Georgia. He moved in 1819 to Gwinnett County, Georgia. He died on 28 Mar 1845 in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He was also known as Steven Taylor. [Fields2.FTW]

Septimus Taylor, Jr. (Septimus means seventh son of the seventh son) moved to Georgia and married Frances Wardlaw. They lived in Dodd's District of Gwinnett when he received two land grants, one in Houston Co. 12/4/1823 and one in Dooly Co. 6/29/1843. They were in Gwinnett Dec 1820 and were counted in the 1830 census with a family of five males and four females. The 1840 census shows him as head of a household in Gwinnett's Sugar Hill District Sept 1840. Frances Taylor 65, a widow and four male children and one female child was in sugar Hill 9/25/1850 when the federal census was taken.
Septimus Taylor left Halifax County, Virginia about 1810 or 1811, and moved to Jackson County, Georgia. He bought land in Jackson County, Georgia in 1816. The Justice of the Peace whose name appears on the deed was William Brandon, who was an uncle of Septimus. It is supposed that Septimus cam to Georgia with him. Septimus moved to Gwinnett County, when the county was formed in 1819.

Proof that Septimus Taylor, Jr. of Gwinnett County, Georgia was a son of Septimus Taylor, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth Brandon, was made as follows. Septimus Taylor left a will in Halifax County, Virginia, leaving land to his two sons, Francis and Septimus, and mentioning two daughters, Margaret and Nancy. Septimus Taylor, Jr. of Jackson County, Georgia sold his part of the land to his brother, Francis Taylor. Parents: Septimus TAYLOR Sr and Elizabeth BRANDON.

The proof that Septimus Taylor, Sr. was a son of Charles Taylor, of Halifax County, Virginia and Katherine Dudley, his wife, is as follows: Charles Taylor, born January 8, 1736/7, deeded land to his son, Dudley Taylor. Dudley Taylor, unmarried, left his assets to the children of his brothers and sisters. Our Septimus Taylor, Jr., of Georgia, was an heir, as well as others in the family, including Margaret and Nancy. Francis Taylor was Administrator of the estate of Dudley Taylor.
